The animal shelter design involved creating a building and site that met the differing needs of the public, staff, volunteers and animals. Care was exercised to develop a progression of public to private spaces for the people and spaces for people and animals. Located in a residential neighborhood the traffic and noise of the shelter could not intrude on the comfort and privacy of the neighbors.
